Hello I'm Maarten Lambrechts
Maarten is a data journalist and data visualization specialist. He tries to find stories in data and communicates numbers by making them visual. He also builds interfaces, so people can find their own stories easily.
Recently, public data publishers like the ONS in the United Kingdom and CBS in the Netherlands had job openings for data journalists. This opens a debate about how far open data publishing should go. Should publishers stick to only publishing the raw data? Or should they publish data stories and data interfaces for layman? And what is role of the media in all this? This talk lines up the arguments in the debate.
