The Gender Gap on Wikipedia

  • Time: 16h00-16h30
  • Location: Auditorium
  • Level: Beginner
  • Type: Keynote

Wikipedia is the free encyclopedia anyone can edit. But why is this so much more appealing to men than to woman? According to recent research, Wikipedia editors identify themselves for 90% as men: only 9% are women. This imbalance produces an effect on both the quantity and the quality of the data on both Wikipedia and Wikidata. In our presentation, we will address both the effects of the Gender Gap, its presumed causes and the ways in which we hope to resolve it.

Feel free to share your notes with us!
